Subject: S Tables Question

I am a user of the S Tables, a very compact set of tables (about 10
pages) that allow reduction of an altitude of any body directly from the
DR position (available at Celestaire.com). The tables include a very
good set of instructions with a clear explanation how the navigational
triangle is solved by way of the work forms (also included). The work
forms also serve as a guide to using a scientific calculator to reduce
the sight.
The S Tables include an "S value" and "C value" for every angle to a
precision of 0.'1. By following the forms, it is clear that the "S
Value" allow one to multiply or divide sines and cosines of angles by
adding or subtracting the S or C value in the table. It would seem that
these S Table values should be the log of the sines and cosines, but
when I try to replicate them with a calculator I can't do it.
My question is: What are S Table values?
Thanks
Arthur
