My software says 54.46 degrees for the initial great circle heading.

Such differences are usually because of the underlying math routines
used and often the display routines for showing things to a given
precision.

Without seeing your code it would be hard to say exactly what the
problems are.

If you wish to privately send me the code to glance at, I would be
happy to see if something jumps out at me.
