Robert Eno suggested:

Hello Mr. LeRoy,

I don't know of any on-line sources, however, I use my handy Celesticomp
navigation computer when swinging my compass with a shadow pin. By now, (at
the risk of speaking heresy) most navigators should have some kind of
electronic navigation calculator. Failing that, you can always manually
calculate the sun's azimuth using the formulas and a regular calculator with
trig functions.

I'd add a couple other options:

For people looking for an easy electronic solution, but not having access to a
Celesticomp or other dedicated computer try
http://hjem.get2net.dk/JalaSoft/Navigation.htm. This is a link that has a great
shareware program for all celestial nav functions. One can easily find azimuth
of any body from a know position.

For online access to the sight reduction tables for marine navigation go to
http://164.214.12.145/pubs/ the introduction of each volume provides directions
to solve for azimuth to find compass error. Of course, any sight reduction
method can be used to find the azimuth of a body and HO 249 is available online
at the same site.

Chuck
