Actually, the HMNAO generates all the information, and passes it onto the USNO. I
believe this was agreed upon during the war. My understanding is that the data has
already been generated for many years to come. They could print the almanac for 2050
today, if anyone wanted it. The HMNAO is quite self sustaining in that they collect
sufficient royalties for their data to keep the store open. Since most of the work
is already done, I am sure they will be around to collect their money as long as
there is any demand at all for their products.
