There are probably lots of sextants on boats that may or may not be
used according to inclination. Plenty of people are able to use them
well enough to find a target the size of Bermuda, say, but don't make
a point (or hobby) of it.
That is certainly my case.
Just keeping up with a 21-year-old boat takes a lot of time. I may get
to try lunars sometime, but it is just one of many things waiting.
Also, the odd-year Marion-Bermuda race has a division for boats
eschewing electronic navigation. A friend usually goes as navigator on
one of these, although she doesn't use the sextant in other parts of
her life. Of course she must bring her own sextant.
