Subject: Artificial horizons

While my last artificial horizon posting resulted in some interesting discussion
on exotic liquid metals no one answered the question I'm really interested in.
I'll try again - have other users of artificial horizons had luck with stars?
I'm only able to find the reflection of brighter objects: sun, Moon, Jupiter,
and Venus. If you have taken star sights were they during twilight or in the
middle of the night?
