I think the point is to have a system that is independant of the GPS. On a boat
you try to have back-up systems for the back-up systems.

But sadly there is only one Sol to go around, leading to only one postion line
at a time. Good point about flying high, but 'under a hazy sky' remains a deep
mystery.
