It has been a LONG while, but when I worked for Flying Tigers, they flew 747-
200. The magnetic compass was in the cockpit center overhead just behind the
Flight Engineer's seat. The Pilot/2nd Officer viewed it with a mirror on the
glareshield.
We carried 3 INS units for over water navigation.
