Wrong answer! There are list operators who wonder why their list
hobbles along in an emaciated state on the edge of drying out completely
despite continued efforts to spark it to life.
There are other list owners who put next to no effort in, but whose lists
prosper and blossom.
Apart from obvious features like the mass appeal of a topic (just how many off
shore sailors are there who will not sit pat for a reading from 1,2,or 3 gps,
but insist on practicing a difficult procedure, after all?) one factor that
can be oil
in the cogs, is the reduction of stray responses.
Not all list readers register the source of the posts, or the destination
of their
responses - so a deathly silence is demotivating to them, and robs a list of
some vitality....
