Orbit?

Dan,

Place things in orbit? I used to work in the space program for NASA. I
worked on the SCOUT launch vehicle program and that was our job - put things
in orbit.

The nominal orbit for the SCOUT with a 300 pound satellite was 110 NM. The
stated accuracy of the launch vehicle was +/- 150 NM - which occasionally
gave us some problems.

In practical terms, we were the most successful launch vehicle in NASA's
inventory (98% success) back in the late 70's and early 80's - but there
were a few instances where we put the satellite in the drink.
