Subject: GPS vs WWV time.

I cannot recall seeing this topic come up, but if it did, please point
me to the archived discussion.
For our sailing races, we have just changed to a system that relies on
the so-called "atomic clocks" that are now sold ubiquitously. Such
clocks, as I understand it, are quartz based and are periodically reset
by directly "listening" to WWV. What we tell the racers at the skippers
meeting is: Just use time on your GPS.
The question is whether there is a 1-2 sec discrepancy between WWV (NBS)
time and that shown on ones GPS receiver.
A couple of us think that we have noted this discrepancy.
What say ye? Any comments including who to contact at WWV in this regard
will be appreciated.
