Subject: Navigation-L Survey

I too am an amateur at navigation, but enjoy the correspondence on the list.
Here are my replies for the survey:
a) Dead Reckoning - I use the Traverse Tables from Norries.
b) Sight Reduction:
Primary sight reduction method - the
cosine-haversine method, backed up by a calculator.
I check all the arithmetic using Navigator Light Ver
3.0, from Omar Reis.
c) Plotting - universal plotting sheets (A3 size)
d) Navigation Manuals - Bowditch 1995
Blewitt, plus any others found in second
hand stores.
e) Nautical Almanac - mostly I use almanac information from Navigator
Light, but I still use last year's Nautical Almanac for reference.
Occasionally I tap into various Web based almanacs, especially the USNO
site.
Regards,
Greg Gilbert
