Sumner Lines

The original "Sumner Lines" are somewhat different than we use
today. We use the "Marc Saint Hilaire" Az-intercept method.

Sumner did write a book explaining his "new" method of navigation
Cal-State Univ., Fullerton has a copy of it. You can check out.
It is copyrighted about 1840 or 1850 something like that.

Norrie's Navigation book starting about 1890 has an explanation
of the "new navigation" also.

I also seem to remember that the 1938 and/or 1943 edition of
Bowditch has a brief explanation also.
