Although FORTRAN is not for the faint of heart (we could, I suppose,
discuss the joys of COBOL, PL/1, or that paragon of
incomprehensibility, APL) there is a pre-compiler for FORTRAN included
in Linux systems. While setting up a Linux system solely access the
ephemerides strikes me as building a steel mill to get a paper clip,
there is that option for those so inclined.
