Patrick:

If SWMBO will not permit the purchase of a navigation manual, I suggest
you use what your local library may have available. You will need an
understanding of the basics of celestial and Dead-reckoning navigation.

"Bowditch" Pub NO. 9, The American Practical Navigator or Dutton's
Navigating and Piloting.

The Nautical Almanac Concise Tables are sight reduction tables normally
used for sight reduction of all astronomical bodies listed in the almanac.
The Hc(calculated altitude) and the Zn(azimuth) are used to plot the
LOP(line of position) of the body on a plotting sheet.

Download POSPLOT.EXE form the NAV-L web sute. It is a windows program that
prints plotting sheets on a printer.
