A couple who are friends with a good client of mine took off for a year
sail a few years ago on their Cabo Rico. The husband loved it. The wife's
one complaint was that she felt lonely. She sorely missed her close
friends and their long experience sharing conversations.

I have never heard this from anyone else and was wondering if any of you
had or if you experienced this. I think this might be undertandable if you
spend the majority of time at anchor, and you are cruising from place to
place. You don't stay in one place long enough to get to know people. On
the other hand, a couple I know who sailed the ICW from NJ to FL said they
met other boats heading south for the winter and ending up sort of
traveling together or repeated meeting up with each other at various ports.
You do make new friends, but it might be difficult to form close
friendships where you share personal problems.

    Any comments on this?
