In a message dated 8/19/99 11:31:42 PM Eastern Daylight Time,
     writes:

<< definately shorten their life and they usually arent cheap either.
    >Has anyone tried a bundle of 3 super bright white LED's?
    >they are only about 40mah. per LED and come in at least 4 colors.
    >You would need to regulate to 3 to 4 V. though.
    >On the upside, they last about 100,000 hours.

These are already available set up as a photo controlled anchor light. There
was an ad in the Living Aboard magazine awhile ago and I believe the seller
    is on the LA list.

They are a cluster of white LEDs, a photocell, and sell for over a hundred
    dollars.
