>Can you give me the pros and cons
> (I will expect more pros than cons from all of you) of living aboard
Leann,
We live aboard and both of our kids live on their own boats, so we can't see
much against it. I think we live a little closer to the world this way.
When I step out on the deck, my swans - sometimes as many as 25 of them -
are there telling me it is time for their corn. My babies were about 4
inches long the first time I saw them, and now are about 16 inches.
Instead of mowing the yard, we take care of the bottom, zincs, etc. Instead
of property tax, we pay sales tax on the boat as well as an excise tax.
The only thing I really don't like is doing laundry (we have no washer, but
some do) when it snows. Then after I am there, I really don't mind it so
much. When we retire (after kid #2 finishes college) and start traveling,
we will be in warmer places where you don't have so many heavy clothes and
such to wash.
There seems to be a lot of work -- after all, water in the basement can't be
ignored or put off. Can't imagine moving back ashore.
Best of luck with your decision -- if you do it and for some reason don't
like it, you can always move back.
Louise
