On the surface it sounds like an interesting plan. Here is the problem:
A couple years ago I checked on shipping a big power boat from the Texas
coast to San Carlos, Mexico. It turns out that the Mexico part (a couple
hundred miles) was way more than the US part (1500 miles or so.) It would
have been much cheaper to ship it to San Diago. The above plan includes two
Mexico legs, that would be an outrageous price. Nafta may have changed it
a bit, but you still have two loadings/unloadings in addition to the
shipping costs and international transfer costs/problems.
