Dear Live-Aboards:
(1) Crux won't be upgraded for another couple of days, thanks to a mix-up
over CPU fans. Sigh. Nobody seems to stock fans for an "OEM"
Pentium-II... (Crux is currently a P5-90, and will become a PII-400.
Old "centaur" was a 25 MHz Sun 386i ... which I bought in 1988).
(Please send things to crux, not centaur. I would like to retire or
re-deploy centaur's name and address).
(2) If you find that you are no longer receiving postings, it may be that
your e-mail service has been interrupted or your address has changed.
Many addresses get deleted, especially if I get persistent "user
unknown" bounces. Unfortunately, some ISP's flood me with rude robotic
error messages if postings bounce due to an account being defunct or
inaccessible.
(3) If you post from an address differing from the one you are subscribed
under, postings will bounce unless I add the new address to a special
file. If your address changes, I would much prefer that you unsubscribe
using the old address, then subscribe with the new one. The hardest
thing for me is to track down an original address which forwards to a
newer one, when the newer address itself goes defunct. So, please
avoid using forwarding addresses; have your true address the one you are
subscribed to. Of course, there are "extenuating circumstances", so if
you do get put in my special aliases file and later you want to
unsubscribe (or your address goes defunct), please let me know
personally by e-mail what address you were subscribed under. It's best
to avoid having a "forwarding trail" on the Net, but there are reasons
for having one (e.g. cruising ;-)
