We began an overnight voyage at 1800 PDT, one hour after the magic
EOW rollover at 0000Z.
We had two Garmin GPS units; a 45 (sw V2.43) and a 45XL (sw V3.04).
The 45XL was powered-up and had several sats acquired before 0000Z.
When we powered-up the 45 at about 0045Z, it would not acquire any
sats and after 10min of no sats and no keystrokes, it powered itself
down.
So we came to the conclusion that the older 45 had a EOW problem and
that the 45XL was ok... We successfully completed the voyage using only
the 45XL.
Now that I'm home, I've looked at the garmin web page... I used their
software and "fixed" the 45 by using the garmin program to load a new
time... after a sky search, it will now acquire sats within a few min
of power up.
However, the 45XL now exhibits the same behavior as the 45.... as garmin
said it should... The same garmin software clock reset "cured" the
45XL also....
I guess it's a good thing that we didn't power-down the 45XL during
the voyage and require it to re-acquire the sats!
