I just got back from looking at the boat. The only dammage was where the
loose lines (done to protect aginst the surge) alowed the boat to rub
against a piling. When steel meets wood the wood gives up. I lost a
little paint and the piling lost about 2" of wood. BTW, the media
projected surge of 8 to 12 feet came in at 2 feet!!!!
The media is making this sound like a disaster and the governor has even
declared that we are eligable for low interest loans. Ok, now perhaps a
few people in Corpus and this area had some dammage, but all I have seen on
the news is a few downed China Berry trees and those are just weeds that
crash in a 20MPH gust anyway. The other problems are the idiots who got
into their cars this morning to tour the city and got stuck in high water
situations.
I immagine that 50 miles south of here where the eye went ashore there is
probably some major dammage, but Corpus has less dammage that a Norther can
cause in a typical winter storm.
My kids were scared to death for us as they were listening to the news
media but we didnt even get a broken tree branch and we are on the top of a
hill where we get all the wind.
The real disaster is that in the future the locals will discount the media
by 57% and then when the media is wrong on the low side there will be a
disaster because no one is listening to them any more.
