Some of you may recall that RI, among other states, is in a drought
emergency. Therefore, you won't catch me bemoaning the fact that it rained
last night, oh, no, not me. I'm DELIGHTED it rained, that a strong easterly
gale blew that rain with great force into anything in its way, a small boat,
for example.
Some of you may also recall that I had a few pesky leaks in my foredeck,
several of which chose to drip onto my bunk. I attacked those leaks with a
caulking gun, resealing the two hatches to the deck six ways til Sunday and
ditto for the wheel house. I realized that this would probably not solve the
problem, that I'd have to do some drastic measures to find all leaks and plug
'em, but it seemed like a good interim solution until the boat is hauled.
I am happy to very humbly and cautiously report that some of the leaks look
like they might have disappeared at least for the time being. [Please note
my lack of ta-da's which got me into so much trouble before.] Of course you
can guess which leaks didn't get fixed. Right. The ones over the bunk.
But I'm not complaining. Oh, no, not me. You wouldn't catch me complaining
about leaks no matter what. Unh-unh. Nooooo way. In fact, it was so cold
last night, I ENJOYED sleeping under a sheet of plastic. That is, when I
slept, when I wasn't stomping around on the docks checking my mooring lines
as the wind and rain howled around my ears. And the pitter patter of drops
was soothing and relaxing next to the bumping, groaning and scraping of the
boat against the dock.
Are we having fun yet? You betcha!
Nina
