Just for fun here's my web page.... http://www.voicenet.com/~fish68/fred.html
It mentions my trip to the Azores which actually went forward after the web page was built. But the Azores cruise was unfinished after only about 500-600 miles from the US East coast due to good weather(!!!) ... but I have already reported on that event in this list...
Since my Azores cruise went bust I have plenty of unscheduled time on my hands. Let me share with you all my current boat project --- restoring my 505 sailboat. She has been idle and broken since 1992!!!!
In all I have four sail boats: COOCHI (a Corbin 39), CAT PAWS(COOCHI's 8' wineglass section dinghy), an unnamed windsurfer and my first love JOULI (a 505 racing dinghy). The reason I have so many boats is that I just buy them... I never sell them. I don't know how to sell things very well, I guess.
Well, JOULI is getting some new wood on the deck and on the bulkhead that closes off the bow. She was left to the elements in Pennsylvania when I was cruising on COOCHI for a couple of years in the Caribbean. The weather delaminated the 5mm mahogany plywood on the deck and bulkhead. These are being replaced with 5mm Sapporo aircraft grade plywood (two 4X8' sheets @ $135 each). She is a great boat... very maneuverable, self rescuing, planes to windward. I have all the new wood pieces fitted and ready to glue down. The centerboard trunk has some minor delamination but I think some epoxy will set that right. I hope to be sailing again in her by mid September.
I will finish the new wood and the Honduras mahogany toerail with varnish . The tanks will probably have to be painted (sigh) white with some sort of spicy red accent that I haven't decided on yet. I really hate to paint mahogany but there are some older repairs that need to be hidden. I plan to use a two part paint like Interthane. BTW "Tanks" are the floatation tanks P & S where the skipper sits and the crew when not on trapeze. Check out the web page for International 505...
