    Halogens are typically rated at 2000 hrs and 12v.
    With a little experimentation, you could find a resistor or regulate
    the power to keep them at 12v. Running more than 12v. will
    definately shorten their life and they usually arent cheap either.
    Has anyone tried a bundle of 3 super bright white LED's?
    they are only about 40mah. per LED and come in at least 4 colors.
    You would need to regulate to 3 to 4 V. though.
    On the upside, they last about 100,000 hours.
