While on the topic of electronics, it might be a good idea to briefly
mention that not all inverters are created equal. AC power from a line
source is a sine wave. AC power from an inverter tends to be a series of
digital "steps" that approximate the sine wave.
In many cases, the difference doesn't matter, but in some cases, the result
is a very "noisy" power source. If the transients aren't thoroughly
filtered, they can adversely impact electronic equipment. If gremlins are
hounding your electronic gear, it's worth a moment to check your inverter.
Find a friend with a portable oscilloscope and have him take a look at the
wave form both unloaded and under load.
