After reading of all the falling overboard incidents I decided to look over
Evening Star and see what it would be like if i was at anchor or the dock
and fell overboard. Here's what i did; My swim ladder now has a long lead
that keeps it tied up in place. This lead is reachable from the water,
with a bit of a stretch and will drop the ladder down when pulled on it.
Better to be safe than dead! At the dock if the ladder is normally on the
inboard side so then I would have to swim to the shore line or be well
enough to haul my self out. Bottom line is that making the swim ladder
reachable from the water is a smart move... Now I have to hope I never
need to try it out.
