Your dislike for the CG is obvious, but you shouldn't exaggerate the facts. A
41' UTB has less that two foot of freeboard aft. And coasties are trained on
how to retrieve people from the water regardless of the size of vessel they
are on.
Many CG units only have one boatcrew on call at any given time. It is
possible that the 41' was already U/W and it would have taken additional time
to return for the RHIB that would have been the preferred rescue platform.
