    How timely!

    Yesterday afternoon, as I was leaving our boat, I watched another member of
    this list practice just such a technique.

    While trying to board his dinghy, from the dock, it started to rock and
    roll. Luckily I didn't say "Hi George" or the distraction would have been
    enough to cause him to go for a swim.

    The imagination went into over-drive with the image of a very wet,
    sputtering George, but the possibility of his injuries overrode the
    temptation to distract him. His pride stayed intact.
