I was sorry to hear about the mess that the jet ski invaders created. It

Don't bet your life on the response of the "authorities".
When we were anchored in Key West one morning last year we watched a West
Indian tourist couple struggling with a jet ski about a hundred yards from
us. One of them was in the water while the other tried to get back on the
jet ski. When two got up, the jet ski would capsize. Eventually neither
could get up onto the jet ski and we called the USCG base about a half mile
away. The CG acknowledged and we prepared to lower the White Rabbit (our
tender). Just then a center consol boat came by with a strong captain who
lifted the two people up and into his boat and took the jet ski in tow. The
CG finally appeared after it was all over on a 41 footer with about five feet
of freeboard (instead of the orange inflatable that the job required). I
suppose they might have some sort of crane aboard to pick people up out of
the water but I have never seen one. The last image of the story was of the
center consol towing the jet ski away with about 6 inches of the jet ski's
keel showing above the water and the Coasties burbling back to their base.
