Hi all,
Since there has been some talk of windvanes lately I thought I'd update the
list on how our windvane install went yesterday.
>From unpacking the boxes, assembling the vane, selecting the mounting
location, and getting the vane actually mounted we spent about 4 hours.
Sailomat included everything we needed for the install including mounting
hardware. Since we used some 1.75in phenolic spacers to bring the unit aft a
bit we ended up having to get some 100mm bolts but with a more typical
install the included bolts would have worked fine. We did have to have to
sand a bit of excess coating off the interior surface of one component but
other than that it was all went together easy.
The next phase of the installation will be mounting blocks and running the
control lines to the wheel. This will take some doing because our stern
pulpit and transon area are a bit crowded. I estimate that it will take 2-4
hours for this phase with additional tweaking as we out some miles on the
vane.
If anyone wants a picture of the install I can email a small JPEG file.
Regards,
Kathy and Dave Benjamin
