Next message: Andrew G. Anderson: "Re: lv-ab: Cutting the rigging with a hacksaw"
We have just purchased a Nauticat 36 which has hydraulic steering. Our last
boat was a Gilbert 30+, which is a winged fin keel, fairly flat bottomed
boat.
So I am trying to adapt to the hydraulic steering and full keel after
dealing with an instant reacter.
I have discovered that my initial prejudice against the hydraulic system
was in fact the sluggish response of the full keel.
I do like the fact that once trimmed I can let the hydraulic helm go
without locking it down.
So where am I going with this...I don't know! I do know that one can learn
to adapt to what you have.

Geoff Craigen
