It took me many years to learn that there is a big difference in hacksaw
blades. The ones I now use (Lennox brand) cut drastically faster and last
much longer than the cheap Home Depot type. Cost is just a slight bit
higher. I find that they cut stainless nearly as well as the cheap ones
cut aluminum.
The point is, try your blades, make sure you have good ones for this. With
good ones, you can cut the stainless wire pretty darn quick. I'd take a
scrap or two of wire and try it with the blades you plan to use while in
port. Getting the right number of teeth per inch for what you are cutting
makes a big difference.
