    Although I personally prefer a tiller for steering I have sailed on
    several larger vessels multihulls with hydraulic steering and
    find that they are there because the quadrant and cable system was not
    practical. You do have to get use to it if you have not used it before.
    As for cost and maintinance luckily I am not the vessel's owner :-).
