I wanted to commend Cruising Equipment for replacing my Link2000r this week
at no charge (purchased in December) so that it will work with my new Heart
inverter. I love the link2000r - I had my .75 hp ac refrig running off the
batteries with the alternator charging :) ; the Heart 2500 I had installed
(purchased a year ago) was however a disappointment on a cruise last year
since it fried an internal fuse in my ac Denon stereo and my electrical
panels would not display amp draw (apparently because the modified sine wave
was too square) - Trace is apparently known to have a better sine wave.
NOTE: I have been told this is one of the improvements in the new Heart
models - but can't say from experience yet.
I would like to add that these units survived both my lightening strike and
partial sinking...even with the Heart charging the batteries underwater
continually for how long??? (not good!) until the cables burned through.
Maybe the electrical experts on this list might volunteer some sacred
knowledge on how this scenerio (and potential fire hazard?) could be avoided
with whatever charger/inverter is choosen?
While I'm writing this email, to all my friends in this wonderful sailing
community - my email address has changed to .
