Jeff,
There is an epoxy made for repairing exactly the type of hole you described. You
are not the only one who has had their evaporator defrosted with an ice pick!
You can get it a a refrigeration supply house. However, your system is open to
atmosphere and will need to be evacuated. Do yourself a favor and call a tech.
The charge on a small refrigeration system is critical and a deep vacuum is
essential for satisfactory performance and longevity.
