[This is a PERSONAL message; not "business."]
Hi all -- [apologies for possible dups; using several of my in-house lists]
Lest you wonder why I don't [promptly] answer yer email 'n' phone calls, or
why you don't get more GovExcesses:
After numerous delays, I'm *finally* <gasp!> within minutes of unplugging
from the world and escaping in a RV for a month or three(+?). I'm headin'
for boatshows in Annapolis (Oct.10-14) and Florida (end of Oct+) and will
only be checking my email and phone messages every week or so, if/when I
find a motel or dockside phonejack. (For emergencies, call my
housemate/foreman, Lee West, 415-851-8984. or any of my other housemates if
ya know 'em.)
[ I plan to "test-drive" a large cruising catamaran for a week or two and,
if I like it as a permanent live-aboard, buy a new or late-model and move
in (ah'm tired o' my li'l ol' backwoods ridgetop cabin in the coastside
redwoods of the San Francisco Peninsula [wanna buy it?; "only" $2.5-mil]).
After the boatshows, my delusion is to try that get-a-life/relax stuff
that people keep recommending, including soakin' my head in the Carribean
(as many guv'ment volks have suggested, though without the geographic
specifics:-).
"If" I return to Californica <sic>, it'll be by a southern route-to-be. ]
O' course, lest I suffer withdrawal symptoms from lack of govt irritation
(and occasional hope), I plan to visit with co-conspirators in
Washingtoontown (Jamie Love, Gary Ruskin, Chris Casey, etc.), plus some
activists and govt officials in Florida 'n' more in Texass (CFP'98
organizers, EFFers, ol'friends, etc.).
Ah yes -- men and boys and their toys: To avoid the dangers of contentment
and pleasure, I'm taking both the Quadra 650 (jus' what every tiny RV
needs) and 540c PowerBook. I even have delusions of finally restarting
some magazine columns 'n' maybe exuding a [short?] book or two. (yeah uh
huh)
An' oh yes: If I git the live-aboard cat, my "plan" is to winter in the
Carrib, summer in Puget Sound, and meander between the two by way of San
Francisco, or maybe Hawaii and Tokyo, or New Dehli and some Greek islands.
(Know any bright, slender, cordial fellow-escapist maidens who might like
to join me? :-)
And at port visits -- guv'ments permitting -- I plan to offer seminars
[mostly free, of course] about modern/online govt-access, and how to do
effective net-based, computer-aided grassroots community/political action
-- i.e., how to use this new Great Equalizer; this Colt.45 of the 21st
Century.
I've recently been sayin' that those who've been at this for some years
-- and have learned via life-suckin' experience, how to become politically
effective -- *must* mentor and teach others. *I* will!
--jim-in-*need*-of-peace'n'pleasure (whatever those are; wonder what a date is?)
