The windlass fails to respond to any of 4 controls on the boat. When I first
tried the foot switches, there was a barely audible click and nothing
happens. Same for forward handheld control.

I *assume* that the problem lies with the three-pole
(up/down)controller/solenoid. Although only 3 years old and little used, I
imagine it could have corroded, but it appears to be a sealed unit. For
Lofrans, Muir, and Maxwell (and maybe more) the controller is the same brand
    made in New Zealand.

How do I go about trouble-shooting this problem? Meanwhile, my new 55 pound
Rocna and 3/8 chain lies on the dock.

    Thank you,
    Ron Rogers
