Although I am one who did not want to see the list move to Yahoo,
there are a couple of misperceptions:
> Not Plain Text (requested by many low bandwidth users, cruisers)
> Must join, have a yahoo account
Actually one can receive the lists in plain text, and it is not
necessary to join. If you look at the front page for each group there is
a listing of addresses to use for subscribing and unsubscribing that
looks like this:
Group Email Addresses
Post message: [GROUP]@yahoogroups.com
Subscribe: [GROUP]-
Unsubscribe: [GROUP]-
List owner: [GROUP]-
If you use those you do not need to join the group. Those I have
subscribed to this way come to me in plain text. If one subscribes by
joining the group there are options to get mail in html or plain text.
Joining my be required in order to see files, depends on the group
policy.
