Vern,
We don't disagree on the list needing a new server or a new moderator.
Stefan has been lax for a number of years and the list has been down several
times since I joined in 1999. My point is that a smooth transition is
needed to maintain the list. I'm sure he can give you information on the
members that would be helpful in keeping the list together. I know little
about servers or their cost to operate/maintain and even less about the time
it takes to do what is necessary.
When Stefan took the list from Ray, it was done as a joint effort. I would
like to see the same happen this time so that we can all feel that protocol
has been met and we haven't left a "sinking ship with the captain on board".
I wish you and others could understand this and give it a little more time
so that he can at least reply. I sent him a personal email and hope he
responds. If you remember last year, he expressed the same about moving
the server and at that time I strongly supported Sam (which turns out to be
you) and I still do. I don't know why he dropped the ball and didn't
respond then, to the offer you and Sam made.
I also appreciate you volunteering for the job...it is not one I would have.
Thanks for supporting our pictures over the years, including mine. I hope
this can be worked out so that all will be satisfied to move forward and
make the list even better than it has been in the past.
Maybe a time limit should be set for him to respond? Maybe the backup plan
I suggested will suffice till then?
I don't have any answers, only questions.
I apologize to you for anything I have said that you may feel was a personal
attack. My feelings are strong about this matter and I only want to see the
list survive and Stefan receive the kudos he deserves.
On this note, I withdraw from this discussion and will observe the fate of
the list with the others.
