Sorry for the repost, the first didn't post.........

There is concern that the list might go belly up and not be able to proceed
    due to server failure.
I am not opposed to a new server for the list, only the way it is coming
    about.

    1. Create a backup plan to contact Vern if it happens
and he can supply information about the server he has available and how to
    subscribe to the new list.

    2. Make an effort to contact Stefen to learn
what his thoughts might be about moving the list.

    3. Be patient, this list has survived for 14+ years and even though the
posts have dwindled over the past few years, it still remains to be a great
place for live-aboards and wannabes to converse.... as it was started by Ray
Wagner and then turned over to Stefan and his server in 1993.

    4. SPEAK UP, this is your list too. We will not all agree, but hopefully
the list and it's prestige will survive.

    His first post April 1993:

     W E L C O M E T O T H E L I V E - A B O A R D L I S T

This list was started by Ray Wagner of the University of
Virginia, but he soon found it needed a more permanent home. I
offered to keep it on my Sun 386i at the David Dunlap
Observatory. It now has 59 names, and I am sending this note out
to test how well it works and to let you know that it is alive
    and well, and hopefully bug-free.

The list is set up as a simple mail-exploder, so any mail
sent to "" will go to
everybody on the list. I have tested it from our other computers
to make sure that replies go to the sender and not to the list,
but that may depend on how good your mailers are.

The link to the David Dunlap Observatory is via a SLIP
connection which tends to croak every two or three days for a
while, so don't be too surprised if messages get deferred.

Requests to add/delete names should be sent to "live-aboard-

    ("live-aboard-requests..." will work too).

Standard mail-group etiquette is to e-mail responses to the
sender and not to the list, with the original sender mailing a
SUMMARY to the group once replies cease and are evaluated.
However, this group is small enough that some chit-chat should be
both interesting and not too cumbersome. Let's play it by ear ...
