Bob, I've got no dog in this fight. You may have missed the note from
Stephan, but he wants out. He doesn't want to bother with the list anymore.
He is moving to Europe and would like for someone to "take over" the list
responsibility. All the talk about it is just about what would be the best
route to take to do so.

    Bob,
Maybe you missed Stephan's posts, but all this
new list is being done at HIS request.
He ASKED for somebody to take over the list as he
would no longer be able to do it.
There is nothing underhanded going on here.
Maybe if you looked in the archives for posts
from Stephan you could find his posts?

I think there has been a lot of "self interpreting" of Stefen's posts!

For those that have missed or misinterpreted Stephan's posts..
    http://www.irbs.com/lists/live-aboard/
is the address for the live-aboard list archives.

Copy of Stefen's first post saying the server went down and he fixed it:

    Dear Live-Aboards,

My old server "crux" went belly-up on Saturday and I have fixed it
only today, Thursday. Hence, some postings will have been bounced (if they
don't appear within the next few hours). Very soon, it will be replaced,
but I think the list needs to be moved to a better home than the one it has
occupied for the last 14.5 years (it more or less pre-dates the Web),
especially since I'm shortly going to Vienna on sabbatical. I think Yahoo
Groups may be the place; a cousin of mine has had a list there for about ten
    years.

I don't read anywhere in the above that he is, as you say "but he wants out.
He doesn't want to bother with the list anymore. He is moving to Europe and
would like for someone to "take over" the list responsibility. All the talk
about it is just about what would be the best route to take to do so."

Where is he asking for someone to take over???

The list is working...what is the rush? Why can't everyone wait until
    Stephan replies?

I don't like it and will continue to support this list we have until I hear
from Stephan and his intentions. I will not try to "guess" what he wants
    done.
