    Someone wrote that there are two types of silicone. The one that smells like vinegar is not to be used on plastic - it eats plastic!!! BoatLife white silicone works fine.

    I bedded some plexiglass panels several years ago with somebody's silicone caulk. It caused significant deterioration of the plastic. Be sure that the manufacturer specifies that the material is compatible with your portlight material.

    The above reminds me I dont remember reading the full story of the cat lost in the Texas Gulf a year or so ago. (Johnson?) It fell apart right where the forward bunks were bedded? Was this the same sort of phenomenon .. the bedding compound weakening or hardening the underlying fiberglass/resin?

    What did the owner do as to follow up with the manufacturer .. had the boat been modified? Sorry Mr. Johnson I dont remember your first name.
