    Ed,

Thanks for the update on your adventures. I don't envy you your uphill slog.

Our King Dome "Sea King" satellite antenna (the regular antenna to which they added a dip in varnish for the PCB and a foam plastic gasket around the dome base, and oh yes, another $500 to make it about $2500 - but if you're interested call them [King Controls] and ask about refurbished units - one fellow said he got his for $1300) antenna is working well once all the gear gets initialized. It takes a little fiddling to start up. I have to start the antenna with the receiver and TV off and wait until it acquires the proper satellite before I can turn on the rest of the gear. It can take 5-10 minutes to get the rig going. Once working it does pretty good. The !@@##$ so-called engineers apparently assumed that one would like to have all the gear powered up 24/7.

Also, the antenna will only switch automatically between two satellites. The Direct TV system uses up to four but most channels are on 101, with some on 110 and 119. You can choose with the antenna control 101/110 or 110l/119. Some engineering was left out.

The 80% rule is alive and well!

I have heard from others that the Follow Me device works well. It is an autopilot in a stick that you mount your normal shoreside antenna on and it keeps the azimuth constant. It runs about $1000.
