Get a Airhead composting Head and loose all the plumbing, tanks, switches, pumps, thru hulls along with the hassle and stink!

Subject: lv-ab: Holding tank vent ideas.
I have a Sealand tank vent filter like this one:
http://www.sealandsanitation.com/holding_tank_acc.htm
At that price I'm getting a little tired of replacing them.
Are there any worthwhile alternatives?
Unfortunately, due to a little inattention, my waste-tank gets over-full
once in a while. So that poor air filter becomes contaminated. Then it
blocks with sediment. When it blocks, the tank tends to to inflate (no
venting). An inflated waste tank is not a fun toy.
There is a rise of about 4 feet to that vent filter, and I have no
opportunity to position it higher. Also, the vent outflow is near the
cockpit, so the odor filtering is much appreciated...
I suppose I could snake the vent another 25/30 feet, many ups and downs
to the transom. But the likelihood of plugging would be high in that
configuration (dips in the hose would cause sediment accumulation).
Any good ideas out there? Your advice is appreciated..
-Neal.
