The Velvet Drive transmission attached to my Perkins 4-108 has started to
"pop" the fluid level dipstick after running for a short time. Otherwise,
the transmission works fine. I suspect that the pressure in the
transmission must be high and that's what's popping the dipstick.
I have also noticed that the engine RPM's suddenly increase a short time
after running under load. I haven't checked, but it could be that the RPM
increase occurs at the time of the dipstick coming loose from its sleeve.
Has anyone had a similar experience or some suggestions? Of course, the
mechanic is always an option.
