Are you all sure that the cover doesn't hang on the side of the grille by the fittings on the bottom of the knob? My gas Magma does this. The knob is slightly loose, I actually tried to fix this until I found its second function as sideways cover holder. If this is not clear, I could send a picture.

i ahve a magma, the lack of hinge is a pain... when the wind kicks in over 15/20 the cover blows and bangs around although you can wrap the SS cable so that the cover stays above deck and doesn't bank the boat. I've been thinking about putting a hinge on it...

Anyone know of a good charcoal grill
for a sailboat. Google isn't helping and I don't like cooking with gas.

Magma makes the hinged lids only for their gas models. The coal model's
lid hangs on a lanyard and looks like a banging clanging mess waiting to happen.

Anyone know of a good coal grill? I have a small sloop and wanted to railmount ideally.

Last year I used a no.10 can clamped to the stern rail with some strategic holes
drilled (hammered) top and bottom (top because my coffee pan fit tightly inside the rim) and
it worked surprisingly well- but not big enough for any good meals. Just coffee
        and chowder.

appreciate any tips for good old coal!
