    Eli,

There are transient slips at the River City marina available in the
winter, but it is not thru the office, but private. I also understand
that there are some spaces available along the wall where the tour
boats operate in the summer also available, again, thru private
discussion. I understand from one person who did use one in 1996 that
the operators like that because it keeps the space occupied, the
electrical system in use and therefore, less likely to break, etc etc.

I found mine years ago buy putting an ad in the Tribune, but just
saying I need an in water slip for the winter. I used the marina by
the bears stadium in the summer, and the River city one in the
    winter. Never got hassled.

    But, that was years ago.

As far as I know, there are no year round marinas open on the Il/ Wi
side. I understand there may be one or two on the Michigan side, up
rivers and / or lakes but it is by word of mouth that one finds them.

If you go down the Ill river, there is a marina or two by the dresden
nuclear power station that use to take live-aboard people, but they
had rules on when one could get underway that need to be reviewed
    closely. Same with hotel loads.

I'm considering living aboard again after several years on land,
