The Hammond (Indiana) marina supports liveaboard They are 20 minute from downtown Chicago. However they are closed this year and plan to open in May of 08, so liveaboard there may be possible in the Winter of 08-09. I don't think any Chicago Park Distict Harbors support boats in the water in the winter. Check the boat yards on the river, some of them could. The old AAA yard did, but they are now closed. If yor willing to go out of town check Waukegan, Racine nd Kensha and yards in those towns. Did you check Marina City?

Subject: lv-ab: Chicago marinas?
Hello,
I'm considering living aboard again after several years on land,
ideally here in Chicago. However, I'm having no luck finding anywhere
to keep a boat in the water during the winter. Most boats are in the
city harbors, which are shut down around October; there seem to be
very few private marinas at all. The nearest I've found is the River
City Marina (slips underneath a condo highrise), but the impression I
get is that the slips are only for sale; if there are transient or
annual slips, I haven't found any way to get in contact with whoever
is letting them out.
So it looks like it's not possible to live aboard year-round here, but
I'm posting to the list in hopes that I've missed something.
Thanks,
--Eli
