I'm baffled as to why you'd want this in a man overboard bag. An epirb, handheld radio, handheld watermaker, maybe a gps, but a recieve only weather radio system?
Please explain.

Hi
due to the fact that the Yacht Boy receives the necessary frequencies (marine H.F. band) for weather fax in the am mode only, at least as far as I am aware, the signal can not be de-modulated properly due to the nature of the weather fax audio tone scheme. The HF weather fax products are designed to be received in Upper Sideband mode only, also the frequencies generally shown on the various schedule sources for broadcast show the center frequency and not the actual frequency that the radio dial needs to be set to. A small receiver with Upper Sideband capability should solve the problem for you. Hope this helps a little.
Paul
